What can you do at Tulip Experience Amsterdam?
Tulip Experience Amsterdam combines three experiences in one visit: a tulip show garden, a tulip museum and an indoor tulip picking garden. Everything is located on a working flower bulb farm in the Bollenstreek, the famous flower bulb region between Amsterdam and the North Sea coast.
Walk through a show garden with 4 million tulips
The show garden contains about 4 million tulips in roughly 700 varieties, planted in colourful beds with plenty of photo spots. It is one of the largest tulip show gardens in the Netherlands and a favourite alternative to walking into private tulip fields, which is not allowed in most of the Bollenstreek.
Discover the story of the tulip in the museum
In the modern tulip museum you learn how a tulip bulb becomes a flower, how the Netherlands grew into the world’s flower bulb centre and what happens on the farm in each season. An audio tour is available in 11 languages, so most international visitors can follow the story in their own language.
Pick your own tulips indoors
In the indoor picking garden you put together your own bunch of tulips, whatever the weather. Picking a bunch is included in your admission ticket, so you always take a colourful souvenir home.

A real family flower farm
Tulip Experience Amsterdam was created by the Pennings family, who have been growing tulips in Noordwijkerhout since 1951. Three generations have worked on the farm: founder Wim Pennings, his son Simon, and granddaughter Sylvia, who leads the visitor experience today. The attraction received the TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Award in 2023, 2024 and 2025 and was named one of the “Best Hidden Gems of the World” in 2023.

Tulip Experience Amsterdam is open during the Dutch tulip season only, roughly from mid-March to early May. The attraction is currently closed and reopens in spring 2027; the exact opening dates and ticket sales for 2027 will be announced on the official website later in 2026. In 2026 the season ran from 19 March to 10 May, so a similar period can be expected.
How to get to Tulip Experience Amsterdam
The address is Delfweg 37, 2211 VK Noordwijkerhout, the Netherlands. By car, Tulip Experience Amsterdam is about 35 minutes from Amsterdam (32 km), 20 minutes from Schiphol Airport (23 km) and only 4 minutes from Keukenhof (4 km), close to the Lisse/Delfweg exit of the N206. Parking is free during your visit (maximum 2 hours). By public transport, take a train to Hillegom station, then bus 22 towards Leiden to the Ruigenhoek stop; from there it is a 10-minute walk. By bicycle, the farm lies along the most popular cycling routes of the Bollenstreek, with a separate cycle path next to the Delfweg.
