Tulip Barn

The Tulip Barn is an interactive tulip experience in Hillegom, in the heart of the Bollenstreek flower bulb region – only 10 minutes from Keukenhof and about 30 minutes from Amsterdam. During the spring season you walk among 2.5 million blooming tulips, take pictures at more than 20 photo props and relax in the greenhouse café. In 2027 The Tulip Barn is open daily from 25 March to 9 May.

What is The Tulip Barn?

The Tulip Barn is a working tulip farm that opens its fields and barn to visitors every spring. Unlike a traditional flower park, the experience here is hands-on and photogenic: you wander straight through the colourful production fields and a show garden, with swings, a tulip boat, and other photo spots scattered between the flowers. The concept became famous on Instagram and TikTok, but it remains a real farm where tulips are grown for the international flower trade.

Many visitors combine The Tulip Barn with Keukenhof: the two attractions are about 10 minutes apart by car or bicycle, and The Tulip Barn stays open into the evening, when the fields are at their most photogenic.

What can you do at The Tulip Barn?

Walk through 2.5 million tulips

The fields contain about 2.5 million tulips in countless varieties and colours. You can walk freely between the flower beds along marked paths – something that is not allowed in most commercial tulip fields around Amsterdam.

Take photos at 20+ photo spots

More than 20 photo props are spread across the fields: swings, a boat filled with flowers, oversized clogs and more. They make The Tulip Barn one of the most popular spots in the Netherlands for tulip photography, from family pictures to influencer shoots.

Greenhouse café, food trucks and play area

In the light, spacious greenhouse you can order coffee, drinks and local bites; on busy days local food trucks join in. Kids have their own play areas, so parents can enjoy the terrace while the children burn off energy.

Farm shop

In the shop you can buy fresh-cut tulips, flower bulbs and colourful souvenirs to take a piece of Dutch spring home with you.
